The Prescriptions Release New Album Time Apart on Single Lock Records: link.singlelock.com/prescriptions

“Vibey new wave and power pop” (Billboard) collection is produced by Ben Tanner (Alabama Shakes) and Brendan Benson (The Raconteurs)

November 18, 2022: Nashville indie group The Prescriptions have unveiled their latest studio album Time Apart today. Produced by Ben Tanner (Alabama Shakes) and Brendan Benson (The Raconteurs), the “vibey new wave and power pop” (Billboard) collection recalls the likes of Big Star, Elvis Costello, Fountains Of Wayne, and Teenage Fanclub with its spacey neo-psych soundscapes, explorative indie rock, and jangling heartland hooks. Time Apart finds The Prescriptions - Hays Ragsdale (lead vocals, guitar), Parker McAnnally (bass), and John Wood (drums) - expanding their sonic range without sacrificing an ounce of their immediacy. “There’s no question that this band has aced the test,” according to UNCUT’s 8/10 star review of Time Apart

Time Apart is the warm, widescreen follow-up to The Prescriptions' 2019 debut, Hollywood Gold, with its songs balanced halfway between classic craftsmanship and progressive exploration. Each sub-three-minute “majestic gem” (Ghettoblaster Magazine) is packed with hooky melodies that worm their way into your skull and never leave. Album opener “April Blossoms” shimmers with its stacked vocal harmonies and bright bursts of electric guitar, while "Compartmentalize" finds room for icy verses and noisy, open-armed choruses. The band brings a “Nirvana-like explosiveness” (UNCUT) to “Compartmentalize” before darkening the mood with ominous strings and synths on “I Might Try” and “Baby Be Nice.” “Fire Moon” mixes acoustic guitars into an experimental, kaleidoscopic soundscape.

Fiery and forward-looking, much of Time Apart finds Ragsdale in an introspective mood, turning his personal journey toward honesty into something universal. When recording sessions began, Ragsdale, Parker, and McAnnally were still riding high on the critical success of Hollywood Gold, which earned the band invitations to perform at SXSW and Jason Isbell's Shoals Fest. But as the pandemic brought their tour to a halt, The Prescriptions had time to chase down new ways to present their melody-driven sound for their sophomore album. The result is a timeless rock & roll album with street-smart swagger for a new generation.

The Prescriptions will perform at The East Room in Nashville, TN tomorrow night (Saturday, November 19) at 8PM to celebrate the release of Time Apart. Stay tuned for more tour dates to be announced at http://the-prescriptions.com/.
