Wanda Wesolowski is an Alabama songwriter and front woman of The Wanda Band, known for crafting music that blends confessional lyricism with contagious groove. Hailing from Huntsville, Alabama, Wanda’s songs explore the spectrum of queer joy, grief, and rebirth—infused with her knack for melody, wit, and raw feeling.

Many of the songs on State I’m In were first developed in John Paul White’s songwriting class at the University of North Alabama, giving the album an intimate and deeply personal foundation. What began as sketches and reflections evolved into a fully realized body of work centered on growth, longing, friendship, and the strange beauty of looking backward while moving forward. Wanda steps behind the drum kit throughout the record, adding a more instinctive and personal rhythmic pulse to the songs.
